US_Colorado – Westminster Increase Sales and Use Tax

Starting January 1, 2026, Westminster’s sales and use tax rate will increase to 4.25% for all taxable transactions. The proposal to increase the city’s sales and use tax rate passed the local ballot in November. This measure influences all suppliers and service providers that have customers located in this city.

Impacted persons

  • Remote sellers with economic nexus
  • Marketplace facilitators
  • Local retailers

It shouldn’t be forgotten that the Westminster Revenue Department is responsible for tax collection and tax compliance in general. The city operates under a home-rule framework, and taxable persons are required to submit separate returns.

Remote sellers should adjust their tax engines following the latest sales tax increase to avoid under-collection.
