EU – Germany & Austria: Development of the E-Commerce Software Solution to Ensure EU Data Sovereignty

Establishing best practices for data security, data repositories, and related control mechanisms is a top priority for EU-based e-commerce vendors.  To assist EU companies with GDPR compliance and robust data security, three German-based companies, STACKIT, Empiriecom, and Adesso, have launched a new end-to-end ecommerce solution that stores all data on servers located in Germany and Austria.

The proposed solution aims to give EU vendors full control over their data while ensuring compliance with GDPR. Use of the service ensures that customer data and shop operations remain within Germany and Austria, in full compliance with GDPR. 

The shared vision identified an opportunity amid growing concerns about entrusting deposited data to multinational companies such as Shopify, Google Cloud, and Amazon, among others. More and more, important retailers are looking to transfer the data security compliance to EU-based providers.
